How to Play Flight Simulator

Take off from the runway and fly from the pilot's seat in a full 3D cockpit β€” six working instruments, a moving yoke, and a city of towers, suburbs, and coastline outside the canopy.

Controls

Arrow keys or W/A/S/D fly: up and down pitch, left and right roll. Q and E work the rudder, Shift and Ctrl set the throttle, and dragging on the view flies it like a stick. Press V to switch between cockpit and chase views, and P or Escape to pause.

Goal

Roll down the runway, rotate, and then fly through the glowing rings before the clock runs out. The clock only starts once you are airborne. Every ring adds 16 seconds and builds a streak multiplier, and crossing near the center pays more. Terrain or water costs an aircraft, and the run ends when the clock or your aircraft run out.

Tips

  • On the takeoff roll, wait for the race computer to say rotate before you pull back β€” pulling early just drags the tail.
  • Watch the airspeed needle: below the green arc the wing stalls and the aircraft sinks.
  • Bank into your turns instead of using rudder β€” a banked wing pulls the nose around much faster.
  • The downtown towers are solid, and the tallest is over a thousand feet: go around them or well over them.
  • The magenta bug on the heading indicator points at the next ring, and the race computer shows how far above or below it you are.
  • Trade altitude for speed by diving, then climb back once you are through the ring.
  • Start on the trainer: it stalls slowly and its wings level themselves on Easy.
